Self Help is the Best Help

Introduction: Self-help is the best help. It is a time-honored proverb. People say that God helps those who help themselves. True it is that those who do their own duties themselves without depending on others are more successful than others.

This does not mean that one should not seek cooperation from others or cooperate with others in their necessity. It means that one should not seek the help of others when one can do it oneself.

When should we ask for help? We should ask for help from other people only when it is needed. We should try to do our jobs of our own. In the process, we should be ready to help ourselves in the best possible manner. For this, we can cultivate good habits and virtues such as discipline, determination and hard-work.

Importance: It is important for us to cultivate the habit of self-help so that we can get our work done with our own efforts and resources.

It will build self-confidence and will enable us to achieve our goal.

We will be in total control our circumstances and situations.

The habit of self-help is immensely rewarding.

Nothing is impossible for a determined person. Because of his efforts and strong determination, a self-helping person would surely sail through the difficulties and reach his goal.

On the other hand, a person who is lazy and depends upon others to get his work done, will not have any command or authority. There are chances that he will not be able to complete his tasks fruitfully.

How to inculcate the habit of self-help? The habit of self-help is to be ingrained in character from the very childhood. The school going boy is to be taught to keep his books, uniform, socks, foot-wear, and water-bottle, etc. in order so that he can get ready for school without the help of others. But if he requires the help of his mother or other members to get things ready for him, he can never be self-reliant.

Conclusion: The world has produced a great number of luminaries who grew up to be self-reliant in life. Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, etc. were the product of self-help. It did not matter whether they lived in poverty or plenty. It was their habit of doing their own duties themselves that made them great.
