“Learning of facts is education,” for good number of people the facts are the description or details about a thing abstract or concrete. In learning of any discipline acquisition of the knowledge of fact is essential. In this connection an educationist of Arizona University, U.S.A., has opined in the words that, “Knowledge of facts is very important in any learning. They may be in the form of description or details. Description tells about any object imparting information about situations is also teaching of facts. Principles are also facts systematized knowledge is based on facts. In our life learning facts, is of basic value. Facts knowledge: The processes is teaching of skills are also facts. We cannot understand any activity if we do not know the facts involved in the activity. The importance of facts to persons may differ from person to person. Students may learn many things, so every fact is not required to be taught the teacher is required to select the useful and important facts”.

According of Prof. M.S. Khan, the process for learning facts can be as under:

(i) The teacher should present the facts.

(ii) The teacher should set certain exercises for the purpose of practice.

(iii) The teacher should give some home-work to further knowledge.

(iv) The teacher should evaluate through a test whether the facts h«ve been learnt or not

(v) On the basis of the test, the teacher should re-teach, present more practice material for class-room practice well as home with practice.

In learning scientifically one is required to acquire a systematised knowledge and a systematic knowledge of needs facts and details which are required to be taught still the knowledge of large number of facts cannot have precedence over the knowledge of few facts pertaining one method for doing a thing. For example, there can be any number of methods, for filing the papers and a person may know all the facts of these methods, but they may be useful, if despite the knowledge of facts, one does not know actual filing. In practice, only one system of filing is enough. One system in which a person is skilled is more useful than knowledge of many systems, if he is not skilled in all the systems. This does not mean we are minimizing the importance of fact learning in Commerce subjects.

Therefore, facts are important in all the activities because it will not be possible to perform a skill if the full facts are not known. If one wants to be an expert salesman, he must know all the facts about the products he wants to sell, the necessary facts about the customer and the facts regarding qualities expected of a good salesman. The fact about facts still remains that some facts may be important for one group of persons, and the same may not be important for another group.
