Short Biography, Paragraph of “Adler, Alfred” short paragraph for Class 12 and Graduate Classes

Adler, Alfred

Adler, Alfred (1870-1937). Austrian psychologist. After studying in Vienna, he became associated with Sigmund Freud but soon developed opposing theories. He claimed that aggression, not sexuality, is central to human behaviour and that man’s striving for perfection is an attempt to overcome a feeling of inferiority (often misnamed an ‘inferiority complex’). In 1921 he founded the first of 30 or more child-guidance clinics in Vienna.
