Dr Thomas John Barnardo
Dr Thomas John Barnardo (1845-1905). British philanthropist. He studied medicine in London and founded the first ‘Dr Barnardo’s Home’ for destitute children in Stepney in 1870. Dr Barnardo’s is still a thriving charity and now administers over 100 homes and other child-care establishments.
