Filippo Brunelleschi

Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446), Italian architect and sculptor of the early Renaissance. He trained as a gold-smith and sculptor and later became interested in mathematical perspective. He invented machines to enable the construction of the dome of Florence Cathedral (1420-36), one of his best-known works.
