Samuel Goldwyn
Samuel Goldwyn original name Schmuel Gelbfisz (1879-1974). US film producer, born in Warsaw. He came to Hollywood in 1910 and produced an enormous number of films, mostly for his own companies. He helped to create the reputation of many stars, including Gary Cooper and David Niven. His comic blunders with English phrases were celebrated and he is credited with many ludicrous expressions, such as “Anyone who goes to a psychiatrist needs to have his head examined”.
