Murshid Zadi

Murshid Zadi, early 19th cent., Begum of Avadh. Wife of Nawab Saadat All Khan (d. 1814) she was a woman of great piety. Her son and successor Ghazi-ud-Din Haider (d. 1827) raised a magnificent tomb for her in Qaiserbagh, Lucknow, which still stands. Her name means ‘Daughter of a Religious Leader’.
