Rani Ji

Rani Ji 1658, Rajput princess. This was the title by which the chief queen of Raja Jaswant of Jodhpur was known. She ordered the gate of the fortress to be closed in the face of her husband when he fled from the battlefield of Dharmat (29 May 1958) after the defeat of the imperial forces by Aurangzeb. She refused to recognize such a coward as her husband, and even prepared to commit sati, though she was dissuaded. She was later reconciled to her husband by Aurangzeb when he became the emperor. The real name of the princes is not known.
