Tace Bai

Tace Bai, 1857. Rani of Jaloun, in Central India. Daughter of Gopal Rao, descendent of a Raja of Jaloun, she was sanctioned a pension by the British when the State lapsed to the British in 1842 and her claim was set aside. She, however, joined the cause of the insurgents in 1857. She fled from Jaloun in April 1858 on the fall of Jhansi and later submitted to the British. She was deported to Monghyr in Bihar, along with her son, and all her jewellery was confiscated.
