Laozi
Laozi (fl. 6th century BC). Chinese philosopher, said to be the founder of Taoism and the author of the Taoist scripture Tao-Te Ching. Although there are legendary accounts of his life dating from the 2nd century AD, there is no historical evidence of his existence. One of these accounts alleges that Lao-tzu disappeared on a trip to the West.
