St Luke
St Luke, (fl. 1st century AD). Author of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. A doctor, he accompanied St Paul on part of his second and third missionary journeys. In his New Testament books Luke affirms that Christ is the saviour of all men and traces the progress of this belief in the growth of the early Church. He is also the patron saint of doctors.
