Cole Porter

Cole Porter, (1892-1964). US composer and songwriter. He studied law and music at Harvard, and later went to France, where he took lessons in musical composition. Noted for his witty lyrics and sophistication of style, he wrote words and music for Broadway musicals and revues. His works include the songs ‘I Get a Kick Out of You’ (1934) and ‘Begin the Beguine’ (1936) and the musicals Kiss Me Kate (1948) and Can Can (1953).
