Thomas a Kempis

Thomas a Kempis, real name Thomas Hammerken von Kempen (c. 1380-1471). German theologian. He spent most of his life in an Augustinian monastery, where he wrote The Imitation of Christ. This famous devotional work, which instructs the reader to model his life on’ that of Christ, has been translated into more languages than any book except the Bible.
