Perkin Warbeck

Perkin Warbeck, (c. 1474-99). Pretender to the English throne during the reign of Henry VII. He was persuaded by enemies of the king to impersonate Richard, Duke of York, the younger of the two princes supposedly murdered in 1483 in the Tower of London. After gathering support on the continent, he invaded Eng-land and besieged Exeter but was subsequently captured. He was hanged after trying to escape from the Tower.
