Asmat Begum
Asmat Begum, fl. later 16th cent., Mughal princess. Wife of Itimad-ud-Daula, the famous minister of Emperor Jahangir (d. 1627) and the mother of the empress, Nur Jahan, she was constant adviser to his daughter. She is remembered in history the discoverer of attar of roses, which so delighted the Emperor.
