Ganga, 1621, Sikh saint. Wife of the martyred Guru Arjan (d. 1606) she was the mother of his son and successor, the sixth guru Hargobind (b. 1606). She was once visited by Emperor Jahangir and Nur Jahan. She watched the Sikh religion transform itself from a pacific creed into a militant movement, According to her wishes; her dead body was consigned to the river Beas at the place her husband had been martyred. She was a very devout woman, and was often consulted by her son on points of religion, and political affairs, particularly in relation with the Mughals.
