Korumdevi

Korumdevi, 1406. Rajput princess. Daughter of Manik Rao, chief of Mohils, she fell in love with Sadu, the son and heir of Ramingdeo of Pugal, a fief of Jaisalmer, for which she gave up her betrothed Irrinkowal, the heir of Mandor. The jilted lover sought to challenge his rival with whom she was married, when the bride and the b:idegroom were departing for Pugal. As the forces of two partisans clashed, Sadu was killed, and the virgin widow instead of surrendering to the victor, cut off her arms to be given in the victor, and herself committed sati. The grieving father excavated a tank at the spot, which is still called ‘The Lake of Korumdevi’.
