Rahim-un-Nissa

Rahim-un-Nissa. early 18th cent., Mughal princess. Daughter of Jan Muhammad, she was called Koki Jiu because she and Emperor Muhammad Shah (d. 1748) had been suckled by the same mother. By her own knowledge of astrology, she came to have much influence on the ladies of the imperial harem.She was also shown great respect by the emperor, and after the downfall of the Say, id brother, she became the emperor’s most trusted confidante, and wielded great power and authority which she did not exercise wisely. About the end of 1732 she started losing her influence with the emperor, and ultimately lost it completely.
