Georg Simon Ohm

Georg Simon Ohm, (1787-1854). German physicist. His experiments with electricity, while he was a professor at Cologne, led to his formulation of a rule now known as Ohm’s law. This states that the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to its resistance. Ohm’s discovery is the basis of much electrical and electronic theory; the unit of electrical resistance is named after him.
