Quintilian

Quintilian (c. 35-96 AD). Roman rhetorician. From 68 he practised law and taught rhetoric in Rome. He .retired about 20 years later and was given an honorary consul’s title by the emperor Domitian. The text of The Training of an Orator, which was published towards the end of his life, was lost for centuries and rediscovered in 1416. He is believed to have died shortly after the assassination of Domitian in 96. His wife and young son died before him.
