Tiberius

Tiberius, full name Tiberius Claudius Nero Caesar Augustus (42 Bc-37 AD). Roman emperor. As the stepson of Augustus, he soon obtained command in the army and had a brilliant military career. After being passed over several times as Augustus’s successor and spending several years in virtual exile on Rhodes (6 BC-2 AD), he finally became emperor in 14 AD. Following the unsuccessful conspiracy of his trusted minister Sejanus (31 AD), he did not leave his home on the island of Capri. In his last years here he gained a reputation for cruelty and depravity.
