Composition Writing on “You were at home. Someone knocked on the door and your mother asked you to see who it was.” for Class 9, 10 Students.

You were at home. Someone knocked on the door and your mother asked you to see who it was.

I was flipping through the newspaper when an article on a robbery caught my attention. As I read it, my mind was filled with scenes of what happened a few years back.

“Ding-Dong!” The doorbell rang. I dragged my weary self to the door and opened it. I gave a sigh upon seeing that it was a salesman. He asked if my mother was around. I nodded my head and called out for my mother.

My mother appeared from the kitchen and the salesman began promoting his items. It was some beauty care products and I knew my mother would fall for such gimmicks. Just as I expected, my mother opened the door and invited him in. I was asked to get a glass of water for the salesman.

When I returned to the living room, I was shocked to see my mother, gagged and bound. She was shaking her head frantically as if to warn me of an impending danger. Just as I spun around, the salesman swiftly wielded a knife and instructed me to keep quiet. I did as I was told. I, too, was bound and gagged.

Both my mother and I watched on in horror as the perpetrator began ransacking the house. In a few minutes, he had practically emptied all our cupboards and whatever valuables we had was in a bag. Anger was building up and I wished I could do something to stop him.

Just then, loud wailing of sirens filled the air. The robber had a look of bewilderment on his face as he was wondering how on earth we could have called for help. He panicked and in a flash, he took to his heels.

The seconds ticked by, each seemed to be hours. Two police officers entered our house and untied us. We told them what had happened and they assured us that they had arrested the robber. We gave a sigh of relief. My mother was advised to be wary of salesmen as they might be imposters. My mother nodded her head as she blushed in embarrassment.

“Still thinking about the incident?” I was jolted out of my thoughts by a tap on my shoulder. It was my mother. I smiled and teased her about her weakness for beauty products.
