Alexander Milne

Milne, A(Ian) A(lexander) (1882-1956). British children’s writer, the creator of Winnie-the-Pooh. He worked as a journalist before making his name with several plays. During this time he also wrote a number of poems for his son Christopher Robin, some of which featured Christopher Robin’s toy bear Winnie-the-Pooh. These poems were later published in two volumes. Winnie-the-Pooh reappeared in the two collections of stories, Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928). All four books have had lasting success with children.
