Friedrich Fröbel
Friedrich Fröbel (1782-1852), German educator. Although he had had little formal education himself, he taught for six years. During this time he developed such strong ideas about how children should be educated that he started his own school in 1816. A second, founded in 1840, was the first of the many ‘kindergartens’- that now exist all over the world.
