Udham Bai

Udham Bai, d.1754, Mughalprincess. Originally a public dancing girl, she had so fascinated Emperor Muhammad Shah (d. 1748) that he made her his queen. Though she remained the same woman of loose character to the end, she came to exercise great influence in administration. After the death of her husband when her son, Ahmad Shah came to the throne, she thought of herself as another Nur Jahan, and was given many high sounding titles by his son. Her love for the eunuch, Javid Khan (killed 1752) scandalized the whole court. She was cry extravagant, though she also gave liberally for charities. She was imprisoned along with her son when he was ousted in June 1754.
