Composition Writing on “You were watching television with your family members when the doorbell rang.” for Class 9, 10 Students.

You were watching television with your family members when the doorbell rang.

It was a lovely Sunday morning, my family and I were at home, watching some television programmes together. We were interrupted by the ringing of the doorbell. Being the youngest in the family, my parents and brother made me answer it.

I grumbled and dragged myself to the door. When I opened it, there was no one there. Anger washed over me as I thought it was probably a prankster.

“Must be one of those naughty ones that live upstairs. They probably have nothing better to do,” I muttered.

Just as I was about to close the door, I heard a soft cry. It sounded like a kitten and it seem to come from the ground. I looked down and gave a shriek. There, in a basket, was a baby! I was momentarily shocked as questions raced through my mind. What was the baby doing here? Who left him or her here?

I was jolted out of my thoughts by my brother’s loud booming voice. “What’s wrong? Who is at the door?”

“Come, mum and dad, come and take a look at this!” I shouted.

My parents, noting the urgency in my voice, came running to the door. My mother gave a soft scream and brought her hand to her mouth. My father, who was very calm, told me to open the door so that he could bring the baby in. I did as I was told.

When we brought the baby in, my father called for the police and gave them a brief description of what had happened. While waiting for the police to arrive, my mother made some milk for the baby to drink. We also found out that it was a girl. I started playing with the baby.

Not long after, we heard knocks on the door. We knew who the visitors were. My father opened the door and invited the men in blue in. There was a doctor and a nurse with them.

While we were being asked some questions, the doctor and nurse ran some checks on the baby. After the questioning, the nurse carried the baby and the police officers informed us that they would admit the baby to the hospital. One of the officers added that the mother had most likely abandoned the baby.
