Prabhjot Kaur
Prabhjot Kaur, 1927- , poet and political worker. Born in Langarial in Punjab on 6 July 1927, she was the daughter of Sardar Nidhan Singh and was educated at the, Khalsa College for Women in Lahore, and Punjab University. In 1948, she married Narendrapal Singh. She published her first book of poems while she was only 16, since then she has written over 30 books, poems and short stories. She was the recipient of many literary awards, and was given the title Rajya Kavi by the Punjab Government M 1964. She was awarded Padma Shri in 1967. She had been a member of Punjab Legislative Council since 1966.
