Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright, (1869-1959). US architect, one of the leading architectural innovators of the 20th century. Born in Wisconsin, he studied architecture under Louis H. Sullivan in Chicago. During his early career he built a number of private houses in a functional style, using modern materials and incorporating open-plan areas. He ,also designed some of the first skyscrapers and the unique spiral form of the Guggenheim Museum in New York (1956). His standing as an architect was not fully recognized until after World War II.
