Why do Indian artists touch their ear lobes on mentioning the names of their Guru?
In our tradition and culture guru is considered above God and hearing or taking their names is regarded as disrespectful. The artists touch their ear lobes at the mention of the names of their guru to show their own humbleness and respect towards the guru. And this seems to have become a ritual.
