Why is it dangerous to jump out of a moving bus?

The body of a person jumping from a moving bus tends to remain  motion due to inertia. So, while jumping he may fall to the ground and may get hurt, badly due to the resistance offered by the  ground. That is why it is dangerous to jump out of a moving bus.
